The court of the Southern district has convicted a minor resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, found guilty of preparing an attack on a police officer in the summer of 2025. According to the press service of the court, the young man will spend seven years behind bars.
The tragic events unfolded on the evening of July 4, 2025 in Nalchik. A resident of the Urvan district, armed with a knife, attacked the traffic police inspector in order to seize his service weapons. During the conflict, the attacker was neutralized and the wounded policeman was taken to a medical facility.
In September of the same year, Kabardino-Balkaria investigators opened a criminal case against a 17-year-old boy involved in the incident. The detainee previously tried to avoid responsibility, hiding from law enforcement officers. He was charged with a number of serious articles, including incitement to terrorist acts, preparation of a terrorist attack by an organized group, encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer and attempted theft of weapons.
According to the court decision, the teenager was found guilty and sent to serve a seven-year sentence in a general regime colony. As the investigation established, the young man was in a group associated with an international terrorist organization banned in Russia. It was planned to attack the police to seize their weapons. Since it was not possible to enter the building of the police department, the organizer threw a stone at the patrol car to lure the employee. The attacker then attacked the inspector with a knife. Defending, the police officer jumped into a trench left over from repair work, allowing him to retain weapons and ammunition.
