Sverdlovsk court tightens sentence in case of accident with hockey players

The Sverdlovsk Regional Court reviewed the verdict in the case of a fatal accident with a children's hockey bus in the Verkh-Nevinsk area and increased the punishment for all three defendants. This is reported by the press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.

The tragedy occurred on January 29, 2024: a bus with young hockey players was returning from the competition from Chelyabinsk. On the way, his wheel burst, the car went into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with the Citroen car.

The consequences of the accident were severe: the driver and two passengers of the car died on the spot, the coach of the hockey team died in the ambulance. Several children suffered injuries of varying severity.

In the dock were the bus driver Igor Minenko, the owner of the vehicle Yevgeny Lobov and mechanic Maxim Adiev. Initially, the Nevyansky City Court found them guilty: Minenko – under Part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Lobov – under Part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Adiev – under Part 3 of Art. 266 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. All three were assigned forced labor for 4 years. In addition, Minenko was deprived of his driving license for 2 years and 6 months, and Adiev was forbidden for 3 years to engage in activities related to monitoring the technical condition of transport and putting it into operation. The court of first instance also partially satisfied civil claims: from Lobov in favor of relatives of the victims recovered 2 million rubles, in favor of injured minors – 1.5 million rubles.

The verdict was appealed by the prosecutor, lawyers of the convicted and victims. After studying the case materials and hearing the arguments of the parties, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court changed the decision of the first instance. Punishment is stricter:

Evgeny Lobov received 3 years in a general regime colony - he was taken into custody right in the courtroom;

Igor Minenko and Maxim Adiev were sentenced to 3 years in a colony-settlement, they proceed to the place of serving their sentence on their own, but under the control of the penitentiary system;

Adiev was reduced additional punishment: the ban on work with the control of the technical condition of transport is now valid for 2 years and 10 months.

“MK-Ural” wrote that in the accident at the entrance to the Verkh-Nevinsky killed two members of the special operation. The publication reports that in the Citroen car, which was demolished by a bus with a children's hockey team, there were two servicemen Alexander O. and Nikita V. from Novouralsk. They served in the military unit, were members of the SVO.
