The phone of the murdered gave Bashkir beast Sergey Martynov

In June 2009, the police of Udmurtia gave Sverdlovsk colleagues an orientation to Sergei Martynov. It listed his signs, habits, clothes and things he carried with him. Among them was a bag of tools and an old blue radio, wrapped in tape. There were no phalanxes on the fingers of the wanted one. Details of the search told reporters the press Secretary of the Sverdlovsk police Department Valery Gorelykh.

Martynov has been looking for four years. His name has appeared in investigations of crimes committed far apart. There were more murders and another year and a half of the search.

In the press, Martynov was called the Bashkir Beast, the Voronezh Chikatilo and the “maniac traveler.” The geography of his crimes explained the last nickname: without permanent housing, he traveled on trips, found temporary work and stayed with new acquaintances. Investigators in different regions had to restore the circumstances of his appearance and disappearance.

In November 2010, operatives arrived at a roadside cafe near Voronezh. The electrician who worked there spent the night in a building under construction next door. To establish this place helped the phone of a woman who a few months earlier was killed in Ufa.

A native of Nyazepetrovsk, the Chelyabinsk region, Sergei Martynov was already serving time for murder associated with rape. He was convicted in 1992. In 2004, he was released and subsequently lived in Kemerovo.

In April 2005 there was an attack on a minor girl. Martynov inflicted severe wounds on her face with a razor. The victim survived. According to the Investigative Committee, after this crime, he was put on the federal wanted list.

However, there was an episode between the attack and the search, the circumstances of which the publications describe differently. Martynov was arrested, but then he fled. Media reported that the court released the suspect under a subscription not to leave. Investigator Alexander Shmakov, who was engaged in the subsequent crimes of Martynov, told “Our Version” about the escape from the police department. These versions contradict each other.

At liberty, Martynov was helped by the skills of an electrician and an auxiliary worker. For employers, he was a visitor who could be entrusted with repairs or chores. Later, the same characteristic will be given to him by the employees of the cafe, where he will be detained.

In June 2007, the body of Svetlana Starikova was discovered in Glazov. Investigators found out who she had contacted before her death. Neighbors told about a man named Sergey, who recently lived with a woman.

According to them, he worked at the construction site, dressed neatly and talked politely. Witnesses remembered the damaged fingers of his right hand. Then Sergei disappeared.

The investigation was important and the description of appearance, and information about his work and joint life with Starikova. They were able to find a specific friend of the deceased. In a police report published in the summer of 2009, the Glazov murder was already among the crimes to which Martynov was attributed.

A similar story appeared in the Oryol region. In the village of Znamenka found the body of another woman. Before her death, she sheltered a visiting man who called himself Sergey. He said he worked as an electrician and was going to go to work. Friends of the deceased described the same sign of hands. After the crime, the visitor was no longer seen in the village.

The name, noticeable damage to the fingers and circumstances of acquaintance with the dead coincided. There was a version about the involvement of one person in two murders. It had to be checked by testimony and traces from crime scenes.

In 2012, the media published a reconstruction of the case, based, among other things, on a conversation with investigator Alexander Shmakov. The publication reported that to establish the identity of Martynov helped numerous fingerprints left at the crime scene.

A detailed reconstruction of the connection between the Glazov and Oryol cases through prints is based on this journalistic investigation. Documents of the investigation, on which it would be possible to independently verify what traces were found, with what they were compared and in what sequence the results were obtained, are not publicly available.

Interregional search work is confirmed by police reports of that time. However, the spread of the alerts did not lead to immediate detention. People who met Martynov on the road or hired him did not necessarily see the publications about him. Sometimes they recognized their friend after he left.

In 2007, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Martynov committed violent sexual acts against a young girl. Her father hired him for construction work. The baby survived. Later, this crime entered the criminal case along with the attack on a girl in Kemerovo.

In May 2008, a man with whom Martynov worked during the construction of the temple died in the Vladimir region. His body was found with stab wounds. This episode was already mentioned in the 2009 orientation. Theft of property from the temple was also reported.

Most of the victims Martynov was associated with were women. In the Vladimir case, his work brought him together with the future victim. In his eyes and eyes he lived with women who were later found murdered.

The murders of women were also investigated in the Sverdlovsk and Yaroslavl regions. According to the reconstruction of the media, a resident of the Yaroslavl region was missing for some time. After the arrest of Martynov, investigators received information about the circumstances of her death.

In the Lipetsk region killed a woman who had no permanent housing. This crime was also reported in the journalistic reconstruction. Publications allow us to name individual places where Martynov appeared, but not to restore every move. There are discrepancies in the dates of some episodes.

By the summer of 2010, the search was in its fifth year. In Ufa, Martynov met Tamara Sadikova. She let him into her house.

In early August, Tamara Sadikova turned 70 years old. She was killed at the end of the month. After the crime, the journalist visited the house and spoke with the only son of the deceased Sergey.

There were things of the hostess and aquariums with fish, which she looked after. The son told the journalist about his mother and what went missing after the murder. Clothes, shoes and a video camera with family records disappeared from the house.

Martynov left two messages. One was intended for police officers. In it, he claimed that he was not afraid of the search, and reported that by noon he would be in Chelyabinsk. In the second note appealed to the son of the deceased and asked to apologize for what he did.

Publications about the murder were accompanied by photos of the wanted person. In September, media reported about a driver who stopped on the road due to a malfunction of the car. A stranger came out of the forest and asked for help to get to Samara.

A man drove him to one of the villages of Bashkiria. A few days later, the driver saw a picture of Martynov in the newspaper, recognized his passenger and turned to investigators.

After Ufa Martynov reached the Voronezh region. In September 2010, near the cemetery "Pervomayskoe" in the Semiluk district, he killed a resident of Voronezh. This episode was the last murder to be charged.

Later, the regional prosecutor’s office explained that the case was considered in Voronezh, since the last crime was committed in the region. But in the fall of 2010, two years remained before the trial, and Martynov again found work.

He got a job in the roadside cafe "Dzhambul" in the Novousmansky district. He repaired the electrician, helped with the housework and spent the night in the building under construction at the institution. Cafe staff later described him as a quiet and executive worker.

Here he was known under the name Sergey Mikhailovich Martynov. The real patronymic of the wanted person, indicated in the orientation, was different - Kashfulgayanovich. He kept his name and surname.

For about two months Martynov stayed at the cafe. Then he earned a phone, which he took from Tamara Sadikova's house.

According to media reports, the device appeared on the network in early November in the Novousmansky district of the Voronezh region.

Further actions were explained by the employee involved in the search. Immediately after the detention, the acting head of the search unit of the Voronezh Criminal Investigation Department, Evgeny Smotrov, told Komsomolskaya Pravda that calls from the stolen phone came from the Jambul cafe.

The operatives contacted the owner of the establishment. It turned out that he recently had an employee similar in description to Martynov.

Criminal investigation officers from Bashkiria arrived in the Voronezh region. Together with local colleagues, they prepared the arrest. The operation was carried out at night, when Martynov was in the room where he usually slept.

He was arrested on the night of November 19, 2010. The head of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bashkortostan Vladislav Gorkavtsev said that the wanted person slept and did not have time to resist. According to him, at Martynov found a knife and a screwdriver.

After his arrest, he was taken to Bashkiria, where the murder of Sadikova was investigated.

Reports from the first days after the arrest included ten or more possible murders. Law enforcement officers checked information from different regions and the testimony of Martynov himself. In November 2010, the Investigative Committee of the Prosecutor’s Office reported that he confessed to the murder of Svetlana Starikova. Complicity in other crimes has yet to be established.

In May 2012, the Investigative Committee announced the completion of the investigation. In June, the trial began in Voronezh. The psychiatric examination conducted in the case found the defendant sane.

On November 9, 2012, the Voronezh Regional Court found Martynov guilty of eight murders, grievous bodily harm, hooliganism and violent sexual acts. There were also two minor victims who survived the attacks.

The murder for which Martynov was convicted in 1992 was not included in those eight.

The punishment was life imprisonment in a special regime colony. Eight murders have been proven in this case.

In the stories of Jambul employees, the moment of the end of the five-year search was preserved. Visitors who had dinner at the cafe headed for the black exit. When they tried to stop them, they presented police IDs and said that they had come for electrician Sergei Mikhailovich. The worker with whom they lived and worked nearby was taken out in handcuffs.
