Tiger bites man who sneaked into his enclosure in British zoo
The incident took place at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The visitor climbed over the fence to the tiger, having performed a strange dance. The intruder was not saved. The zoo was closed for the weekend.
In the UK on the territory of Yorkshire recorded an accident with a fatal outcome: a man died after entering the fenced area to the predator in the wild nature park Yorkshire Wildlife Park. According to the Guardian, this information was provided to law enforcement agencies in South Yorkshire.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 10. Police received a signal that a visitor had voluntarily climbed into a tiger enclosure in a wildlife park near Doncaster. The animal attacked the intruder, causing him serious injuries. The doctors who promptly arrived at the scene were powerless, and the victim died right at the scene.
The department separately noted that the animal itself did not receive any damage during the incident and did not leave its habitat. According to a police official, there is currently no threat to public safety. The attack was carried out by a male named Altai, who was brought to a British park in February 2025 from a Norwegian zoo.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park described the incident as an emergency and said its internal emergency response rules were in place immediately. During the necessary events, all people in the park were evacuated, and the complex was closed for visiting until the end of the weekend.
The official appeal of the park administration also stressed that the issues of ensuring the safety and maintenance of the well-being of guests, staff, as well as ward animals are always their main priority.
Videos published on social networks capture the moment when the man was on the ground inside the enclosure immediately in front of the predator, after which he went on the attack. Witnesses shouted loudly, trying to shift the attention of the beast. Eyewitnesses also said that before jumping over the protective barrier, the man made rhythmic dance moves, presumably trying to prepare morally. To scare off the tiger, zoo workers used special sonic gas cannons, making a series of warning shots.
