The incident occurred on October 9 during a flight from Newark to Italy. When the liner was over the North Atlantic at an altitude of 11.3 kilometers, it dramatically changed course and began to descend towards Dublin.
Passengers were told that the landing would be carried out in the Irish capital, but the true reason for the change of route they learned only after landing. As it turned out, the crack gave the windshield from the side of the co-pilot.
