A student of the Minsk College gave fraudsters - 8 thousand – the courier was a deceived 17-year-old foreigner

Criminal investigation operatives of the Frunze police department of Minsk detained a 17-year-old foreigner, whom the attackers used as a courier. This was reported in the Mingory Executive Committee, writes sb.by.

The scammers called the young man, introduced themselves as employees of the mobile operator and offered to extend the contract. To do this, the guy dictated the code from the SMS.

He was soon contacted by a false law enforcement officer. He said that because of the data leak, the attackers are carrying out illegal financial transactions on behalf of the young man. Fearing possible criminal liability, the teenager agreed to follow all the instructions of the scammers. First, he declared about $2,000 in parental savings. The guy gave the money to a man who was presented to him as a collector.

Then the young man met with a 16-year-old student of Minsk College. According to the instructions of the fraudsters, he had to take the package from him and take it to the specified coordinates. The courier himself thought that he was helping to “declar” money. In fact, the second teenager was also a victim of deception.

The scheme was similar: he was called, allegedly to extend the contract with the mobile operator, lured the code from the SMS, and then intimidated with stories about financial fraud.
