The Alexander City Court convicted a citizen of one of the neighboring countries. The entrepreneur was found guilty under Part 5 of Art. 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in the acquisition and storage for the purpose of selling unlabeled tobacco products on a large scale.
The scheme of shadow business was stopped in March 2025 by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Alexander district. More than 2,200 packs of cigarettes were seized from illegal trafficking. The examination established their market value - almost 300 thousand rubles.
The investigation established that in January 2025, the merchant purchased a large batch of counterfeit goods that do not have special excise stamps. All products were exhibited on the shelves of the tobacco store owned by him.
The court imposed a fine of 250 thousand rubles. Confiscated tobacco products must be destroyed. At the moment, the verdict has not entered into legal force, but this decision should serve as a clear signal to everyone who tries to build a business bypassing fiscal legislation. Savings on excise taxes turned into not only a financial loss for a foreigner, but also a criminal case.
