Police have completed a criminal investigation into a 39-year-old local woman accused of six counts of stealing money from the bank account of a 79-year-old pensioner. This was reported in the press service of the interior Ministry in the Crimea.
According to the investigation, the accused worked as a seller in one of the city stores and was with the 79-year-old pensioner in a relationship of trust. Using this, the woman, under the pretext of paying for purchases, systematically stole money from the account of an elderly woman.
Law enforcers established that from May to August 2026, the seller included goods in cash checks that the pensioner did not actually purchase. Through the payment terminal, she conducted transactions in excess of the real value of purchases. The difference between the actual cost of goods and the amount debited from the bank card woman took from the cash register in cash.
The victim learned about the loss of money when she could not pay with a card due to lack of funds in the account. With the help of a neighbor, the woman went to the bank and received a statement on operations. After studying information about write-offs, the pensioner discovered suspicious transactions and went to the police.
During the operational-search activities, criminal investigation officers established involvement in the theft of a 39-year-old seller. The defendant confessed.
The total amount of damage caused to the 79-year-old victim exceeded 87 thousand rubles. Currently, the accused is under a warrant of not leaving and proper conduct. The criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
Earlier it was reported that in the Simferopol district in October 2025, the 46-year-old unemployed son of a 74-year-old woman used her bank card without her mother’s knowledge and spent money on food, tobacco and alcohol – the amount of damage exceeded four thousand rubles. A criminal case was opened on the theft.
In July 2025, a resident of Feodosia was convicted of stealing money from someone else’s bank card. In January 2025, a woman, while visiting a friend, noticed a card left unattended and for several days paid it in stores, spending about 35 thousand rubles. The court sentenced her to one year of probation.
In October 2025, the Simferopol district court sentenced a taxi driver who stole money from the bank account of a pensioner born in 1937. The man learned from the woman that a large amount was stored in her account after the sale of the cottage, and on the way he transferred money several times through a bank application on her phone, which remained in the cabin of the car.
The total amount of transfers amounted to 200 thousand rubles. The court fined the man 100 thousand rubles, the damage he compensated voluntarily.
