The number of victims of the attack in the technical school of the city of Ostrolenka in Poland has reached nine people. This was reported by the press Secretary of the district Prosecutor’s office Elzbieta Lukasevich, reports the Polish Press Agency.
Among the victims were five students, two teachers and two bystanders. The attacker attacked them while fleeing the crime scene. One of the wounded is in serious condition, but there is no threat to life of any of the victims.
The attacker was a 19-year-old graduate student Yakub Z. He was detained near the educational institution. The young man suffered abrasions and injuries that he inflicted on himself. He had previously attracted the attention of the police because of drug problems and was registered with specialists.
In addition to the knife, the student carried an improvised explosive device into the building. The national prosecutor, Dariusz Korneliuk, said smoke had gone out of the attacker’s backpack in the computer classroom. The teacher and students managed to throw the bag out the window, preventing detonation.
