In Petah Tikva seized more than 40 kg of drugs

As a result of the police operation in Petah Tikva on September 22, 2026, more than 40 kg of various drugs were seized, a suspect in his 20s was detained, the materials were sent for examination, the investigation is ongoing.

On September 22, 2026, in Petah Tikva, detectives of the local police station, acting as part of the Central Police District, searched a residential apartment, which, according to investigators, was used to store, prepare and distribute drugs. During the operation, more than 40 kilograms of substances suspected of belonging to cocaine, MDMA, ecstasy and cannabis were found and seized. All found materials were immediately transferred to the forensic laboratories of the police for forensic chemical examination and subsequent extraction of evidence.

The operation ended with the detention of a resident of Petah Tikva in his 20s, whose identity is not disclosed under Israeli law governing the publication of data during the investigation phase. The suspect was taken to Petah Tikva Magistrates Court, where a judge authorised an extension of his arrest until September 29, 2026 - a standard measure for serious drug offences allowing police to continue gathering evidence and conducting interrogations.

In Israeli practice, such cases are classified under the Dangerous Drug Ordinance, which provides for the responsibility for the storage, sale and preparation for the distribution of prohibited substances. If the charges are confirmed, the suspect could face up to 25 years in prison. Forensic examination of seized substances will allow not only to establish their exact composition and origin, but also, possibly, to identify links with other participants in the criminal network. Experience in similar cases has shown that large seizures are often followed by new detentions and the disclosure of additional episodes.

In recent years, according to police and specialized media, Israel has seen a toughening of the fight against drug crime, especially in the Central District. The operation in Petah Tikva fits into the general trend: the seizure of such significant volumes of various drugs indicates the elimination of not an ordinary storage point, but a full-fledged logistics hub of the drug network. In the near future, the results of the examination are expected, which may become the basis for bringing charges, as well as a possible extension of the investigation to other defendants.
