The police found out that the 26-year-old half-brother of the applicant was involved in the disappearance. He had access to housing. While the owner was away, the man took the money and spent it at an online casino.
To hide his disappearance, he bought souvenir notes, folded them into fakes and put them on the place where the real savings lay.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The maximum penalty under article is up to seven years in prison.
