A strong earthquake in Panama caused power outages in six provinces of the country. This was reported by the power grid company Naturgy.

According to the company, power disruptions persist in various sectors of Chiriqui, Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas, Cocle and parts of Western Panama. Specialists are closely monitoring the situation and working to restore service.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 was recorded in Panama at 11:56 local time (20:56 GMT). The epicenter was located 213 kilometers south-west of the capital, the hearth lay at a depth of 12 kilometers.
