In Sochi 76-year-old pensioner faces five years in prison for registration of migrants
In the Khostinsky district, a 76-year-old local resident became a defendant in a criminal case after registering three foreign citizens in her apartment

In the Khostinsky district, a 76-year-old local resident became involved in a criminal case after registering three foreign citizens in her apartment. According to the police, in fact, the pensioner was not going to provide immigrants with housing.
The violation was revealed by district commissioners during the inspection of compliance with migration legislation.
As established by law enforcement officers, the woman registered three citizens of neighboring countries at the address of her apartment on Jan Fabricius street. At the same time, the owner did not intend to place registered foreigners in the residential premises.
Thus, according to the police, the information about the place of stay of foreigners did not correspond to reality. Fictitious registration prevents migration control, since officially citizens are listed at an address where they do not actually live.
A criminal case has been opened on the revealed fact. The maximum penalty for a relevant violation of immigration law is five years in prison.
The Department of Internal Affairs of Sochi reminded that criminal liability for fictitious registration can occur even when registering one foreign citizen, if the owner initially did not intend to provide him with housing.
