In Sochi, a man 82 times paid someone else’s card

In Lazarev district, police detained a 56-year-old visitor from the Saratov region, suspected of stealing money from the bank account of a local resident. According to the police, the man made 82 purchases using someone else’s card.

The reason for the investigation was the appeal of the essay to the police after the discovery of missing funds. An inspection of banking operations showed that her card repeatedly paid for goods in various outlets.

The total damage exceeded 40 thousand rubles.

Criminal investigation officers examined the history of transactions and identified the stores where payments were made. CCTV footage helped identify the alleged kidnapper.

The suspect was a 56-year-old cohabitant of a friend of the victim, who came to the resort from the Saratov region.

According to preliminary data, the bank card was stolen during a joint feast, which was attended by its owner. After that, the man used other people’s means of payment for purchases.

The police located the suspect and detained him at the address of temporary residence.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for liability for theft, including from a bank account. The maximum sanction of this part of the article is six years imprisonment.
