The southern district military court sentenced two Russian citizens, a father and his daughter, who were accused of treason and preparation to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization. They were detained by FSB officers in Sochi while trying to travel abroad. This was reported in the Center for public relations of the FSB of Russia, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the Ministry, the convicts through Telegram established contact with a representative of a Ukrainian organization recognized as terrorist in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, this representative was engaged in the recruitment of volunteers to participate in paramilitary units of the AFU.
The FSB claims that after receiving instructions from the curator, the father and daughter collected and transmitted to the Ukrainian side information about active Russian servicemen and objects of the Russian Armed Forces located in the region. In addition, according to the Ministry, they planned to go to the territory of Ukraine to participate in hostilities against Russia.
Criminal cases were investigated against the defendants under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (treason), as well as under Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - preparation for participation in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist.
The court sentenced the man, born in 1971, to 18 years in prison. He must spend the first five years in prison, the remainder of his term in a high-security colony.
His daughters, born in 2007, were sentenced to seven years in prison while serving their sentences in a general regime colony.
