In the capital there were clashes of protesters with police

Protesters clashed with police outside the government and parliament of Kosovo. Reuters reports.

Demonstrators demanded a law limiting the powers of the war crimes court in The Hague. The protest came after a court sentenced former President Hashim Thaci and three others to 81 years in prison.

Police used tear gas and water cannons. Demonstrators threw firecrackers and stones. Police said at least 17 people were injured, including six police officers. Three arrested.

Earlier, lawmakers approved the first reading of amendments to the law on the court. The amendments will limit sentences to 15 years and allow defendants to appeal to the Kosovo Supreme Court.
