Police Shoot Man Attempting to Attack Officer at Nashville Federal Court

Police shot and killed a man who tried to attack an employee of a checkpoint in the federal court of Nashville. This was announced by the representative of the city police Don Aaron.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the Fred D. Thompson Federal Building and Courthouse. A man about forty years old came to the city from another state.
At the entrance, the attacker took out a gun and tried to shoot, but the weapon jammed. He then switched to a knife and attacked a security officer. In response, the guard used a service weapon.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but he could not be rescued. The identity of the deceased and his motives have not yet been disclosed.
Investigators have already inspected the man's car parked near the court complex. The investigation has been handed over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Rob McGuire stressed the inadmissibility of armed persons in federal buildings. According to him, the department will have to find out all the circumstances of the incident and act accordingly.
