In Velikie Luki, police detained a robber who threatened a pensioner with a gas canister

Officers of the criminal investigation Department of internal Affairs in the city of Velikie Luki revealed a robbery attack on an elderly woman. The incident occurred in the early morning of October 11 outside a shop on Gastello Street.

According to the 72-year-old victim, an unknown man, threatening her with a gas can, snatched her bag, which contained documents and money, and then fled.

Thanks to the rapid actions of the police, the suspect was able to detain on hot trail. They turned out to be a 28-year-old (born in 1998) local resident who had previously had a criminal record. He is currently detained under Article 91 of the CCP. The Investigative Department initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery”).
