According to the case materials, in June 2025, a young man, whose driving experience was just over two months, drove a Nissan Sentra car and drove it along the 14th kilometer of the R-115 Vitebsk-Gorodok highway in the direction of Vitebsk. On a dangerous section of the road, he exceeded the established speed by 63 km / h.

Then, approaching the designated intersection and being in the area of the prohibitive sign “Overtaking is prohibited”, at a distance of less than 50 meters to the border of an unregulated pedestrian crossing, the Nissan driver undertook a manoeuvre overtaking two passing vehicles. Having left the lane for oncoming traffic, he created an obstacle for the Kia Sportage car traveling in the opposite direction. He forced his driver to change his trajectory, then hit him.

As a result of the accident, passengers who were in the Kia cabin suffered - an 11-year-old girl died from her injuries, an 11-year-old boy suffered serious bodily injuries, and a 49-year-old woman - less serious.

A preliminary investigation into the criminal case was conducted by the Investigation Committee of the Vitebsk region.

After studying the materials of the case, the prosecutor’s office of the Vitebsk region came to the conclusion about the validity of the accusation, a full and objective study of the circumstances of the crime. We agreed with the qualification of the offense under Part 2 of Art. 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

When sending a criminal case to the court, the prosecutor left the measure of restraint previously chosen against the accused in the form of a subscription not to leave and proper behavior unchanged.
