In Vitebsk district completed the investigation of the accident, which killed an 11-year-old girl. The accused is an 18-year-old driver who drove into the oncoming lane at a speed exceeding 130 km / h. Details of the incident on the air of the program “Causes and Effect” on “Radio-Minsk” told the official representative of the Investigative Committee Alexander Sukhodolsky.
Youth, speed and road: accidents with minors
According to the investigation, on the afternoon of June 24, 2025, an 18-year-old driver, driving a Nissan car, was moving along the 14th kilometer of the R-115 Vitebsk-Gorodok highway through the territory of the Vitebsk district. When overtaking passing cars, he was not convinced that the oncoming lane was free. Due to insufficient driving experience and significant speeding, the young man went to the “meeting”, forcing him to change the trajectory of the Kia car moving on him. Trying to avoid the impact, the driver of the Korean foreign car began to urgently move to the right side of the road in the course of his movement, where the collision occurred.

As a result of the accident, three passengers of the Kia car were injured: a 48-year-old woman and a brother and sister (they are 11 years old). The driver, the mother of the minors, escaped with only a scare. From her injuries, the girl died in hospital. According to the results of the forensic examination, her brother suffered serious bodily injuries, the passenger suffered less serious bodily injuries.

Investigators and experts have done a tremendous job to restore the picture of the tragedy. On the road section where the accident occurred, a speed limit of 70 km / h was set. However, the autotechnical examination recorded that the accused was moving at a speed of 133 km / h. It was also found that the driver of the Kia did not have the technical ability to prevent a collision and acted in an emergency situation created by the driver of Nissan.

The defendant doesn't work anywhere. Despite the short driving experience, he has been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility by the traffic police, including for speeding.

Investigators charged him under Part 2 of Art. 317 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle, resulting in the death of a person through negligence, causing serious bodily harm and less serious bodily harm). The investigation is completed, the materials were transferred to the prosecutor for referral to the court.
