The detainee forgot to explain her rights, and the police had to release her
In South Korea, Jeongju released from custody 22-year-old woman accused of two thefts

In South Korea, Jeonju was released from custody 22-year-old woman accused of two thefts. The inspection found that during the arrest, the police did not promptly explain her legal rights.
At the same time, the criminal prosecution continues - the case was transferred to the court without keeping the accused in custody. This was reported on October 8 by Yonhap.
According to the prosecution, in September, the woman twice stole goods worth about 300 thousand won. After her arrest, she was in custody, and on September 28, the materials of her case were transferred to the body supporting the prosecution.
When examining the materials, the woman stated that she had not been informed of procedural rights during her detention. Verification confirmed a violation. The police officer could not remember exactly whether he carried out the necessary procedure on the spot, and explained the rights later, already in the office room.
According to Korean media, such a late notification did not correct the violation of the detention procedure. On September 29, the woman’s detention was canceled. After additional study of the materials, the charge of theft was retained, and on October 7 the case was sent to court.
The police of Chonbuk province announced its intention to conduct an official check on the actions of the employee. The Ministry also announced the preparation of training for investigative and territorial units so that such violations do not happen again.
