In Buryatia, six crimes using IT technologies were registered over the past day. Residents of the region lost a total of more than 1,953 million rubles, of which about 1,902 million rubles — Ulan-Udeans. Among the victims were residents of Ulan-Ude, North Baikal and Khorin districts.
One of the cases occurred with a 21-year-old resident of Ulan-Ude. At the end of May, he searched for an account for an online game and, through a colleague, obtained a contact of a girl who allegedly sold a profile. In June, the young man contacted her, and over time, communication turned into messengers and phone calls.
Later, the interlocutor, under the pretext of jealousy, asked for access to an online bank, explaining that she wanted to check purchases and transfers to other girls. The young man believed her and passed SMS codes to enter and confirm operations. In October, he contacted the bank and found out that access to his account was lost, and the application was tied to the phone number of a new acquaintance.
The statement showed that since the beginning of the summer, money was regularly written off from the account. According to the applicant, the funds were spent on shopping in stores, filmed at ATMs, transferred to third-party platforms, and paid for tours and season tickets to fitness clubs in Moscow. The damage amounted to about 1,832 million rubles.
During the day, the region also registered three cyber frauds, two thefts from bank accounts and one case of illegal access to computer information.
