A resident of the Zaporozhye region became a victim of remote fraud - the man lost more than 62 thousand rubles. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Vasilyevsky” received a statement from the victim, a criminal case was initiated on the fact of theft under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
As law enforcement officers found out, the attacker acted through a chatbot in one of the popular messengers. Under the pretext of buying furniture, he misled the man and sent him a malicious link. After switching from the victim’s bank card, money was written off with one transaction – they went to an unknown account.
The police reminds about the basic rules of protection from fraudsters: you should not follow links from strangers – they often hide phishing sites aimed at stealing personal data and money. You can not enter bank details on questionable resources, as well as communicate passwords, codes from SMS and other confidential information to outsiders. Before making any operations, it is important to carefully check the information and do not rush to follow the instructions of the interlocutors in messengers.
If suspicious transactions on the account are detected, you should immediately contact the bank at the official number. If a person is a victim of a crime, you must immediately contact the police.
