In Kazan, a 72-year-old woman fell victim to phone scammers who convinced her of the need to “save” her savings. Under the pretext of protecting funds from perceived threats, the fraudsters insisted on the need to transfer money to a so-called “safe account”. To carry out this operation, they offered to use the services of an intermediary, to which the elderly woman agreed.
Soon, a courier arrived at the pensioner’s house, to whom she handed over cash in the amount of about 650 thousand rubles. Realizing the deception only after the passage of time, the victim appealed to law enforcement agencies.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact.
Banks and government agencies never ask to withdraw and transfer money to “safe accounts” and do not use couriers to receive them. If such a call is received, the conversation should be immediately concluded and reported to law enforcement agencies.
