In Krasnodon, a local resident became the victim of a fraudulent scheme associated with an allegedly profitable investment. The woman went to the police after losing a large sum of money.
As established by law enforcement officers, the attackers contacted the victim through an Internet messenger. During the correspondence, an unknown woman offered her to become an investor and promised an income of 50 thousand rubles. At first glance, the proposal looked tempting, but in fact it turned out to be a well-planned scam.
“Following the instructions of the interlocutor, in the period from February 28 to August 14, the victim carried out money transfers according to the provided bank details,” the Interior Ministry said.
Under various pretexts, the fraudsters forced the woman to transfer new amounts. In particular, it was about paying the so-called brokerage tax. In total, the victim transferred 1 million 934 thousand 472 rubles to the accounts specified by the offender.
The realization of deception came to the woman only when the money for further "investments" ran out. It was at this point that she realized that she was a victim of fraud and went to the police.
“On this fact, investigators opened a criminal case under the article “Fraud”, – noted in the Department.
Unfortunately, such cases are not uncommon. Fraudsters actively use the topic of investment, promising fast and high income. They skillfully enter into trust in people, put pressure on the desire to earn and under various pretexts lure money. Police officers once again remind citizens of the need to be vigilant and not to transfer funds to strangers, no matter how attractive their proposals may seem.
