In the Belorechensky district, police identified a suspect in the illegal felling of trees on the territory of the reserve in the village of Youth. He was a 29-year-old local resident.
The crime was reported by the chief specialist of the Ministry of Natural Resources. He noticed that oaks disappeared from the site on the territory of the reserve, and filed a statement to the police.
During the operational-search activities, the police established the identity and location of the suspect. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory, a man without permits cut down trees and sawed them for firewood.
The amount of damage caused to the forest fund amounted to about 2.3 million rubles. A criminal case was opened against the suspect under the article on illegal logging of forest plantations. The defendant faces up to 7 years in prison.
