Resident of Melitopol awaits trial for calls to terrorism on the Internet

A resident of Melitopol will stand trial for calling for terrorism on the Internet.

The Prosecutor’s office of Zaporozhye region approved the indictment in the case of a 51-year-old resident of Melitopol. The man is accused of public calls for terrorist activities using the Internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the criminal code).

According to the investigation, from December 2023 to July 2024, he posted at least six comments in the messenger with calls for terrorist attacks and the destruction of military facilities in Russia. The messages were available to a wide audience. Linguistic examination confirmed that the texts contained inducements to violent acts.

The accused is in custody. The criminal case was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
