Resident of Voronezh region sentenced to 20 years for sabotage and treason
The first 3 years the convict will spend in prison, the remaining term in a correctional colony of strict regime

On October 8, 2026, the 2nd Western District Military Court convicted a 23-year-old native of the Voronezh region. The young man was found guilty of treason, committing a terrorist attack, sabotage and involving others in criminal activities.
As the investigation established, in January 2025, the convict via the Internet established contact with representatives of a foreign state. For monetary compensation, he agreed to destroy urban and transport infrastructure. In May of the same year, he tried to arson his friend: sent him a list of tasks and promised payment for the destruction of transport and energy facilities.
The defendant himself moved to active action at the end of the summer. In August 2025, he set fire to a transformer substation and climate cabinet of a cellular communication station in Voronezh. In September, he targeted train stations where he destroyed two distribution terminal cabinets.
The court imposed a sentence of 20 years in prison. The first 3 years the convict will spend in prison, the remaining term - in a correctional colony of strict regime. In addition, he was fined 500 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for 2 years after release. Money received for crimes committed is confiscated into the state revenue.
