Index Mosex, ruble and oil prices: investor digest
The index of the Moscow Exchange on October 8 showed a decline, the ruble strengthened, and oil prices exceeded $105

Mobiri Index
The index of the Moscow Exchange (IMOEX) following the results of the main trading session on Thursday, October 8, decreased by 1.08%, to 2312.35 points. The IMOEX2 index, which shows the dynamics of the market including in the evening and morning sessions, ended the day in the red by 1.18%, to 2310.65 points.
A correction after a prolonged increase was expected, believes Natalia Milchakova, a leading analyst at Freedom Global. She suggested that the decline in the market provoked attacks by Ukrainian UAVs on the Yandex data center in the Ryazan region and subsequent disruptions with access to some of the company’s services.
Additional pressure on the market is also created by expectations of the promulgation of a new package of EU sanctions against Russian business on October 12, the expert added.
However, Freedom Global believes that the target for the Moscow Exchange index of 2,350 points is still relevant. During today, the indicator will move in the range of 2300-2400 points, the company predicted.
On the morning of Friday, October 9, IMOEX2, according to 8:14 MSK, grows by 0.34% to the close of evening trading on October 8, to 2318.64 points.
Russian currency
The ruble on Thursday, October 8, adjusted against foreign currencies. The yuan exchange rate on the Mosbirzh at the end of the day fell by 0.56%, reaching 12.679.
The USDRUB TOM instrument was down 0.59%, reaching .85.51.
The inflow of foreign currency from exports is likely to gradually increase due to a solid rise in oil prices in August, which with a time lag of at least one month affects export revenue, notes Dmitry Babin, an expert on the stock market of BCS World of Investments. In addition, oil prices are actively rising, pushing speculators to reduce long positions in foreign currency or open short ones, he added.
Bogdan Zvarych, head of analysis of banking and financial markets at PSB, expects that the movement of the Chinese currency will continue in the range of 12.5-13.
Oil prices
The price of Brent crude at its peak jumped 5.7% in trading on October 8 and reached $105.92 per barrel. Trading also ended with an increase of 4%.
As noted by TradingEconomics, oil prices rose against the backdrop of increased attacks on tankers from Tehran. In addition, Hurricane Isaiah threatened oil production on the Gulf of Mexico shelf, forcing producers to reduce oil production by about 1.3 million barrels per day.
