Thus, the dollar fell by 51.25 kopecks, the euro by 49.64 kopecks, and the yuan by 5.81 kopecks.
The official rates of the Central Bank of the dollar and euros are used for settlements on contracts on the futures market of the Moscow Exchange, including futures contracts for the dollar / ruble (Si), euro / ruble (Eu), dollar / yuan (UCNY), euro / dollar (ED), dollar / tenge (UKZT), perpetual futures for the dollar / ruble pair (USDRUBF), euro / ruble (EURRUBF), futures for the RTS index (RTS and RTSM) and a number of other instruments.
At the auction on Friday, October 9, the ruble exchange rate slightly changed against foreign currencies. By 17:13 MSK, the yuan exchange rate (CNY / RUB TOM) on the Moscow Exchange decreased by 0.03% compared to the closing level of the previous day and amounted to 12.675.
Tool USDRUB TOM at 17:04 GMT fell by 0.2%, reaching .85,355.

Trading of the currency pair USDRUB TOM was held on the Moscow Exchange until June 2024. Officially, trading in the dollar was suspended after the Moscow Exchange was included in the US sanctions list. The dollar continued to trade on the over-the-counter market, where trading operations are conducted directly between participants, without the mediation of the exchange. Deals on the USDRUB TOM instrument resumed in mid-February 2026.
What now affects the ruble exchange rate
The trend for the fall of the ruble has stopped. According to Vladislav Silayev, senior trader of Alfa Capital, the high cost of oil and the inflow of foreign exchange export earnings are in favor of the ruble, which already broadcasts, albeit with a lag, the world oil prices that increased in the second half of the summer. At the same time, according to him, the discussed EU sanctions against Russia may affect the calculations and timing of foreign exchange earnings on the market.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, in August 2026, the Russian Urals brand on average rose to $67.1 per barrel, which is higher than July values by 13.7%. In September, the cost rose to $92.08, exceeding the values of the previous month by 37%.
In addition, according to Silayev, the restriction of imports against the background of high interest rates in the economy, restraining more active growth of lending, also has a positive effect on the national currency. The ruble will soon be supported by foreign currency sales before large tax payments at the end of the month. However, the final effect depends on the balance of power in the market during this period, he explains.
What will happen to the ruble exchange rate next: expert opinions
Bogdan Zvaric, head of analysis of banking and financial markets at PSB, expects that the ruble will receive support due to an increase in the supply of foreign currency from exporters. In the second half of the month, this may lead to the retreat of the yuan under the lower boundary of the 12.5-13 corridor.
According to the analyst, the relevance of this corridor in the near future will be due to the intensification of demand for currency from importers against the backdrop of the completion of long holidays in China, as well as increased purchases under the budget rule.
In the period from October 7 to November 6, the Ministry of Finance will buy currency and gold under the budget rule for a total of у 279.42 billion. The daily volume of purchases will thus amount to Е12.7 billion. For comparison: from September 7 to October 6, the Ministry of Finance under the budget rule bought currency for у2.5 billion per day. That is, daily purchases have increased fivefold.
In addition, the Central Bank simultaneously daily until the end of the year sells currency for у0.58 billion. Thus, net purchases by the monetary authorities will amount to 12.12 billion a day against 1.92 billion a month earlier (an increase of 6.3 times).
The grounds for strengthening the ruble in the coming weeks remain, says senior analyst of the Criminal Code “First” Natalia Vashchelyuk.
The main factor, in her opinion, is the possible increase in sales of foreign currency in preparation for paying taxes. The volume of operations may increase slightly next week. Relatively high ruble interest rates are likely to continue to support the ruble’s position, Vashchelyuk said.
The forecast of the Criminal Code "First" for the next week is a moderate strengthening of the ruble, the exchange rate of which will remain in the range of 84-86 per dollar, 12.5-12.9 per yuan, 94-97 per euro.
