What now affects the ruble exchange rate
The ruble is strengthening against the backdrop of a contraction of the geopolitical risk premium, which occurred due to the conclusion of a diesel deal between Russia and the United States, writes Mikhail Zeltzer, an expert at BCS World Investments.
An additional support factor for the Russian currency is the pause of the Central Bank at the key rate, the expert adds.
However, while the foreign exchange market is driven rather speculative sentiment, says the managing expert of the center of analytics and expertise PSB Denis Popov.
What will happen to the ruble exchange rate next: expert opinions
Vladislav Silayev, a senior trader at Alfa Capital, predicts that in the coming days the dollar will be in the range of ,83-85, the euro - ,93-95 and the yuan - ,12.4-12.7.
By the end of the week, the PSB expects a gradual increase in foreign currency sales activity by exporters in preparation for the payment of taxes in late October, which will be relatively high.
While maintaining the direction of the influence of the news background, the current combination of factors may more noticeably strengthen the ruble in the coming weeks and lead to an update of September highs, believes Denis Popov. This week, the yuan may fall below 12.5, the dollar - 83.
Expensive oil supports the ruble due to the receipt of export revenue, said Freedom Global analyst Vladimir Chernov. Therefore, in October-November, the expert maintains the forecast for the dollar at the level of у80-85.
In December, Freedom Global expects a slight weakening of the ruble and the dollar in the range of 83-88 amid seasonal growth in demand for currency to pay for imports. Closer to the end of 2026, Vladimir Chernov does not exclude the growth of the dollar to 88-93.
