Lukashenko: Traditions are necessary so that people do not lose their individuality
Alexander Lukashenko said that traditions based on history help people to “be themselves” and not to stray from the path of their ancestors.

Traditions based on key moments of the past are necessary for people to preserve their individuality. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said this in his speech at the Youth Forum. Belarus. Future, dedicated to the Day of National Unity, the press service of the Belarusian leader reports.
On this symbolically important day for us, I want you, our youth, to remember not only the chronicle of the events of September 17, 1939, and not only them. After all, why do we create traditions based on the fateful plots of our history? To be myself. Don't lose your individuality. So that we may not stray from the path laid by our predecessors, including those holding this red banner in their hands. The banner preserved by the underground workers of Grodno and Bialystok, the Head of State said.
This red banner of the late 30s - early 40s of the last century allegedly participated in the liberation campaign of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. It was found and saved during the Great Patriotic War by underground workers of the cities of Bialystok and Grodno.
It became a symbol of the reunification of Belarusians, it survived the Great Patriotic War. And just so you know, it wasn't kept in the museum. And in an ordinary family, passing from generation to generation. And that's the truth about our history. Stories of the people who know about the value of unity, the Belarusian leader stressed.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that young people need this holiday in order not to forget those who created the chronicle of Belarus, preserved culture, traditions and faith.
Whatever happened to us in different eras, Belarusians were, are and will be. That's our story. A history of national unity. When we remember the past, we make plans for the future. Our plans are good. We want to see tomorrow peaceful and prosperous. Both for Belarus and for all parts of the world, the Belarusian leader said.
The head of state congratulated everyone on the holiday, wished happiness, urged to protect their native land and ancestral values.
