Belarus-Algeria cooperation: $18 million worth of contracts signed and new projects outlined

Belarus and Algeria signed contracts worth $18 million. This was announced by the Chairman of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova following a meeting with the President of Algeria Abdelmajid Tebbun. The meeting took place within the framework of the official visit of the Belarusian delegation to Algeria, as reported by the press service of the Council of the Republic.

Natalia Kochanova noted that the program of the visit was rich and focused on the practical development of the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of Belarus in December 2025.

Kochanova stressed that the decisions taken by the Head of State, the joint statement on friendship and partnership, as well as the intergovernmental roadmap for 2026-2027 create a solid basis for further cooperation between the countries.

In December 2025, the President of our country paid an official visit to Algeria, where serious agreements were reached at the highest level. Our main task today is to compare approaches and speed up the implementation of the roadmap for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation in industry, agriculture, healthcare and education, said Natalia Kochanova.

The Algerian side showed full readiness for cooperation in all key areas of the domestic complex, which indicates the positive dynamics of joint projects.

Natalia Kochanova stressed that the agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries lead to concrete financial results.

If we talk about the results of this visit, contracts worth $18 million have already been signed, which will be implemented in the near future. We are ready to cooperate in all areas, but above all we must effectively and promptly implement the strategic vector outlined by the presidents of our states. The President of Algeria spoke about this, noting that our countries today have a lot in common. We are ready to support each other and interact. We also look forward to the return visit of the President of Algeria. He once again clearly outlined all areas of our cooperation and is deeply immersed in all areas, in all industries. Of course, we will do everything to ensure that this is effectively implemented, the speaker said.

The speaker also noted the productiveness of the meeting with colleagues from the Council of the Nation, where she held a detailed dialogue with its Chairman Azuz Nasri.

It is very important for us that we cooperate on international platforms, where we support each other in key positions. This is, above all, the preservation of peace, sovereignty and independence of our countries, etc. We have a complete understanding, good friendly relations. Algeria is a country with great traditions and history, Natalia Kochanova stressed, noting that in the near future it is planned to sign a memorandum on cooperation between the Belarusian and Algerian chambers of parliaments.

“We are grateful to the President of Algeria and our colleagues for the warm and warm welcome extended to us during the visit,” she said.

In addition, Natalia Kochanova outlined specific cooperation projects for mutually beneficial cooperation.

In the implementation of projects for the assembly production of equipment, we propose to move gradually, but quickly: from the supply of a trial batch for quality assessment and the organization of service with the training of specialists to the creation of joint assembly plants. It is extremely important for us to develop such agreements that will be profitable and beneficial for both parties, Natalia Kochanova said.

Within the framework of the negotiations, ready-made cooperation projects were presented. Among them is the creation of joint ventures for the production of energy-saturated and tracked tractors of MTZ, MAZ passenger vehicles, as well as the implementation of projects for the construction of grain drying complexes. Interest in the project for the production of mineral fertilizers using Belarusian raw materials with the participation of Belarus, Algeria and Oman was confirmed.

In the field of agro-industrial complex and pharmaceuticals, the Belarusian side put forward the idea of an integrated approach: from direct deliveries of baby food from Bellact to its subsequent packaging and the creation of joint production in Algeria. Within the framework of cooperation with Belfarmprom, the possibility of mutual localization and certification of medicines was discussed.

Natalia Kochanova noted that common values, such as the protection of sovereignty, independence and the right to independent development, remain the basis of the economy. Humanitarian cooperation was also a confirmation of sincere friendship: this summer, at the invitation of Alexander Lukashenko, a wellness program for a group of Algerian children was held at the Belarusian children’s center Zubrenok.

The program of the official visit also included a visit to the Grand Mosque of Algeria (Jamaa El Jazair), which is the main spiritual and architectural symbol of the country. This third largest mosque in the world and the largest architectural structure in Africa is known as the Millennium Project.

“Algeria is a country with a great history and glorious traditions, in many ways consonant with Belarus. We are united by the main thing - a holy attitude to our independence, careful preservation of spiritual origins and cultural values. When there is such deep mutual respect, interstate dialogue is built sincerely and in all directions, Natalia Kochanova emphasized, noting that acquaintance with the key symbols of Algeria became an important part of the visit program, confirming the rapid strengthening of humanitarian ties and public diplomacy between the two states.
