Behind is a busy negotiating marathon. In conclusion, meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Algeria. We discussed the implementation of key agreements between the leaders of the two countries and the implementation of the Roadmap for Cooperation. In the first half of the year, trade has already doubled. The partners aim at sustainable growth of trade with a target of half a billion dollars, as well as the transition to industrial cooperation. In Algeria, our delegation signed multimillion-dollar contracts. The package includes projects on engineering, agriculture, food products.
Natalia Kochanova, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: The Algerian side is ready to work with us in all areas. The President of Algeria said that. We have a lot in common. And, of course, we are ready to help each other and support each other under the issues and competencies that our countries have. If we talk about the results of this visit, contracts worth $ 18 million have already been signed, which will be implemented in the near future. Of course, we are absolutely ready to cooperate in all areas, but above all, we must implement the agreements outlined in the roadmap for our cooperation.
Algeria is an industrial and agricultural country, although the oil and gas sector dominates the economy. Food security is no less important. Agriculture needs machinery, modern processing, technologies, and Belarus is ready to help. Algeria is also a major buyer of grain and dairy products.
Andrei Kuznetsov, Minister of Industry of Belarus: We also proposed a passenger transport project, because they need to overhaul the entire bus fleet by 2030. Our competencies, which we have, grain drying complexes for the preparation and storage of grain. These projects, which we discussed today, our CEOs are working on today. These approaches are enshrined in agreements. I think by the end of the year we should have some results.”.
The government of the African country is ready to facilitate the implementation of all joint projects and the development of comfortable conditions for Belarusian business. Filling the Roadmap with specific contracts will create a solid basis for the return visit of the President of Algeria to Belarus.
