October 11 – International Day of the Girl Child: beautiful pictures and greeting cards
On October 11, 2026, International Day of the Girl Child will be celebrated for the 15th time.

This important date, approved by the UN, aims to draw attention to the rights, safety and equal opportunities of girls around the world.
The initiative was born from the global campaign “Because I’m a Girl” from the international organization Plan International. In 2011, Canada submitted a proposal to the UN General Assembly. The resolution was adopted in December of the same year, and on October 11, 2012 the holiday was held for the first time, setting a new vector for the protection of the rights of minors.
The main goal is to systematically combat discrimination, the practice of early marriage, the exploitation of child labor and the restriction of access to medicine and quality education. Global statistics are inexorable: investing in the health and knowledge of girls directly strengthens the global economy. An educated girl is more likely to get a high-paying job, create a family consciously and be able to pull herself and her community out of the vicious cycle of poverty.
How is this day celebrated? All over the world there are educational events, festivals and thematic meetings organized by volunteers and charitable foundations with the support of the UN and large companies. On social media, millions of people unite each year under the hashtag #dayofthegirl to share success stories and remind that girls’ rights are an integral part of human rights.
