Patients self-purchase one in seven packs of cancer drugs
Every sixth or seventh package of cancer drugs in Russia in 2019-2025 was purchased by patients at their own expense. This is stated in the study of the International public movement “Movement against cancer”, which was familiarized with “Vedomosti”. At the same time, about 94% of packages purchased by citizens at their own expense in 2025 are included in the list of vital and essential medicines (VEDs) and should be provided to patients free of charge under the state guarantees program.
