13 years of a strange woman: parents were responsible for the abandoned daughter

A resident of the Chinese province of Shanxi by the name of Zhang, who for 13 years actually raised someone else’s child, received the official status of a guardian. The biological parents of the girl, the court deprived of guardianship rights, reports Wccdaily.

The girl was born in 2012. Soon after the birth, the parents hired Zhang's nanny, and in 2014 asked her to temporarily take the child to their home in Shanxi, citing the inability to care for him.

The nanny repeatedly asked her parents to return her daughter, but was refused. Until 2017, they sometimes transferred money for maintenance, but then, according to the materials of the case, payments stopped completely. The child’s life was almost uninterested.

The lack of legal registration turned into serious problems for the girl. She had no residence registration, full school status or social security. As a result, she was unable to pass the necessary procedures for the entrance exams to high school.

Zhang appealed to the prosecutor's office, which upheld her claim. The court found that the child has been living with the nanny for many years, considers her family his and wants to stay with her.

The biological parents were stripped of their guardianship rights and Zhang was appointed an official guardian. After that, the authorities helped to arrange the girl’s documents. The mother and father were also found guilty of abandoning the child. They were sentenced to six months of correctional supervision.
