September 21: The Nativity of the Virgin and the Battle of Kulikovo
On Monday, September 21, several dates are celebrated in Russia.

Orthodox celebrate the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God - one of the main church holidays established in the IV century. According to the folk calendar, this is Osenin (Ospozhinki): the day of the meeting of autumn and the harvest festival, when it was customary to remove onions and prepare bees for wintering.
September 21 is the Victory Day of Russian Regiments in the Battle of Kulikovo and the World Day of Russian Unity. During the battle, the specific Prince of Serpukhovsky Vladimir Andreevich the Brave, together with the voivode D. M. Bobrok-Volynsky, commanded an ambush regiment, whose blow at the decisive moment predetermined the defeat of the enemy's army. For this role, Vladimir Andreevich was awarded a separate title Donskoy.
