On October 30, Orthodox Christians honor Holy Prophet Hosea
On October 30, the Orthodox Church celebrates the day of memory of the Old Testament holy prophet Hosea, the first of the 12 minor prophets.

Living in the eighth century BC in the Kingdom of Israel, he was a contemporary of the prophets Isaiah and Amos and left behind a profound spiritual legacy. According to biblical legend, he married a woman named Homer, who repeatedly cheated on him. This painful experience became a living parable: the infidelity of his wife reflected the spiritual betrayal of the people of Israel, who had forgotten the true God and became addicted to idolatry. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) repented and repented.
Hosea boldly denounced the vices of society and predicted severe trials, including the coming Assyrian captivity and the fall of the capital of Samaria (which historically happened around 721 BC). However, his gift of providence extended much further. A thousand years before the birth of Christ, he, on the inspiration of the Spirit, predicted:
• the cessation of the Old Testament sacrifices and the Aaronic priesthood;
The return of the Messiah from Egypt and his coming three-day resurrection;
The universal spread of true God-knowledge throughout the earth.
Hosea’s prophetic ministry lasted more than six decades. He died in old age, devoting his life to the fulfillment of God’s will. His book became one of the books of the Holy Scriptures, and one of his famous phrases became the cornerstone of the Christian faith in the atonement of sins: “Death, where is your sting?” Hell, where is your victory.
October 30 celebrate the name day Alexander, Anatoly, Andrei, Anton, Joseph, Kuzma, Leonty, Sergei.
