The commemorative date – September 22 – was established by the Order of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia of December 23, 2022 and was not chosen by chance: on this day in 2002, the consecration of the memorial temple in honor of St. Pimen Ugreshsky, on the walls of which memorial plaques with the names of department employees were installed.

Employees and veterans of the UIS took part in a memorial service for the dead. The service was held in the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky. In addition, they laid flowers at the burial sites of colleagues, as well as memorials of the city.

In addition, in SIZO-1 at the stand "They died on duty" employees of the institution once again remembered the names of comrades. In IK-6 spoke about employees of the UIS, awarded the highest state title – Hero of the Russian Federation, including posthumously.
