Its main engineering feature is the central draw span: the wings rose up for the first time, rather than opening to the sides. The architectural appearance is decorated with two granite lighthouse towers with a height of almost 38 meters, with bronze boards of the creators. For a century, the bridge has undergone a large-scale reconstruction, but retained its historical appearance. Today, its length is 336 meters, and art illumination has 1,300 lamps.
One interesting legend is connected with the bridge: among almost a million rivets, one golden one is allegedly hidden - for good luck. But no one has been able to find her yet.
Another interesting detail of the bridge is that Bolsheokhtinsky is often compared to the Tower Bridge in London. And therefore it is not surprising that the adventures of Sherlock Holmes were filmed on it. And after 115 years, the bridge of Emperor Peter the Great is still one of the hallmarks of St. Petersburg.
