Metropolitan Hilarion filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor to the TV channel “Rain”

Metropolitan Hilarion (in the world Grigory Alfeyev) filed a lawsuit against the TV channel “Rain” (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent and an undesirable organization) for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. This is stated in the case card, which drew the attention of RBC.

The application was submitted to the Ostankino District Court of Moscow on September 9. The essence of the claims in the case file is not explained.

A preliminary meeting of the judge with the participants in the case to prepare for the trial is scheduled for November 2.

Metropolitan Hilarion refused to comment on RBC.

In May, the car of Hilarion, who was serving at that time in the temple of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Karlovy Vary, was stopped by the Czech police. The metropolitan was asked to get out of the car, after which, according to the clergyman, three bags of white powder and a jar with similar contents were already lying in the trunk. He was detained on suspicion of possession of banned psychotropic substances and released two days later without charge. After that, Hilarion returned to Russia.

In early June, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent the clergyman to the Argentine-South American Diocese. Hilarion was to serve in two temples in Brazil and move there with his mother.

Later, the place of his service was appointed the Holy Cross Jerusalem Stavropegial convent in the Leninsky urban district of the Moscow region. According to the metropolitan, the patriarch took into account the age and state of health of his mother, as well as the absence of other living relatives.
