Venice decided to sharply raise the price of the “entrance ticket” for tourists

Venice authorities are considering a significant increase in the cost of the “entrance ticket” for tourists.

Venice authorities are considering a significant increase in the cost of the “entrance ticket” for tourists. Starting in 2027, the fee could rise from the current €5-10 to €30 or even €50. In an interview with Gazzettino, city budget adviser Michele Zuin explained that the current fee has become too low and affordable, because of which it has ceased to perform the function of regulating flows.

The main purpose of this measure is to limit the flow of so-called "one-day tourists" (mordi e fuggi - from Italy). "bite and run"), which arrive in the city for a short time, putting excessive strain on infrastructure.

"Please ask the government to introduce higher fees for access - not for the sake of earnings," Zuin said. The problem is that we understand that the current 5-10 euros are now available to everyone. The risk is that they do not have the deterrent effect that the measure should have” (quoted by Il Fatto Quotidiano).
