Deliveries of the first Russian vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV) “Tsegardex” to medical institutions will begin in late September. The first series of 30,000 doses has already been produced, the press service of Nanolek reported.
By the end of 2026, Nanolek plans to release 600,000 doses of the vaccine. "Tsegardex" jointly developed "Nanolek" and NPK "Combiotech".
Until then, the Russian market was completely dependent on foreign supplies. The appearance of our own production allows us to reverse this trend and expand the availability of vaccination within the country, said General Director of Nanolek Yevgeny Barinov.
In October 2025, Nanolek, with the participation of the Federal Industrial Development Fund, opened the first production of HPV vaccine in Russia in the village of Levintsy, Kirov region. The capacity of the first antigen production site was 600 thousand doses per year. After the launch of the second line by 2027, the company planned to increase the capacity to 3 million doses per year.
HPV is one of the most common groups of sexually transmitted viruses. Some of its types can lead to the development of cancer, including cervical cancer. Free HPV vaccination is currently available only through regional programs.
Tsegardex is the first Russian quadrivalent vaccine for the prevention of HPV. It protects against virus types 6, 11, 16 and 18. The drug is registered for use in children and adults aged nine to 45 years.
