Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 15 years in sexual assault case

Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the case of sexual assault against his former assistant Miriam Haley, reports ABC News.

“I am not a perfect person. I live with many regrets and sincerely apologize for my actions, Weinstein said in court.

He said he was treated "like an animal or worse" in prison and said he would devote his last years to fighting for changes in the prison system.

“You had everything. Your legacy could be anchored in greatness. But you threw it all away by committing violence against Miriam Haley, Judge Curtis Farber said.

In 2020, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison after accusing several dozen women of sexual harassment and violence. However, in April 2024, the sentence was canceled due to procedural violations. In June 2025, the jury found him guilty again on one of the episodes (rape of assistant Miriam Haley in 2006). At the same time, in Los Angeles, Weinstein received 16 years in prison in another rape case, which is the term he is currently serving.

At the same time, the film producer denies all allegations of violence, admitting only that he was “obsessive”, “faithful to his wives” and “overstepped the stick”. He claimed that women slandered him for money and fame, and Gwyneth Paltrow accused him of betrayal, saying that she “bloated out of a mountain” and owed him a career.

In March, Weinstein described his existence at Rikers Island prison as isolation and hell. “I only talk to the guards and nurses. That's my entire social circle here. There's no communication in my block. Because it's Rikers Island and it's hell, he used to say.

In July, TMZ, citing sources, reported that Weinstein suffered a heart attack and was taken to the prison ward of Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
