Kravtsov recalled the restrictions on the amount of homework for schoolchildren

Homework in schools should meet the established standards, and teachers in their preparation should take into account the overall burden on students. The Minister of education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov said in an interview with TASS.
“It is important for teachers to be attentive to children and understand that there are tasks in other subjects, to correlate the load. Therefore, there is a limit to the amount of hours, and from this calculation should be set homework, said Kravtsov.
Since September 2025, Russian schools have uniform time limits for homework. For pupils of the 1st grade, the limit was set at one hour a day, for 2-3 grades - an hour and a half, for 4-5 - two hours, for 6-8 - 2.5 hours, for 9-11 - 3.5 hours. At the same time, from September 1, 2026, homework for first-graders was canceled.
Last year, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin proposed to discuss the abolition of homework, pointing to the high burden on schoolchildren and the development of artificial intelligence (AI), which, in his opinion, turned the implementation of such tasks into a formality and a “waste of time”.
