In Zimbabwe, a helicopter crash killed a famous businessman Viknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy “Lulu” Muteke. In total, on board, according to police, there were five people, no survivors, reports New Zimbabwe.
The helicopter crashed in the Marondera area, about 72 kilometers east of the capital Harare. The accident occurred around 17:00 local time. After the crash, the aircraft caught fire. Later, law enforcement agencies specified the composition of the crew and passengers and named the names of five dead.
The cause of the crash has not yet been established. Investigators and aviation experts are working at the scene.
Chivayo was one of Zimbabwe's most famous entrepreneurs. He made a fortune on energy and infrastructure projects and regularly showed off expensive cars and private jets on social media. In 2024, according to local media, Chivaio said that his fortune exceeds $100 million. He also expressed his intention to become a billionaire in the next 9 years.
Chiwayo maintained close relations with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and other African politicians.
On September 16, in the suburban area of Los Angeles, Chatsworth collapsed and a helicopter caught fire. Three people died and another was hospitalized. NBC Los Angeles confirmed that the aircraft belonged to him.
On September 27, a helicopter crashed in the Canadian province of Quebec, about 55 km southeast of Montreal, killing all four people on board.
