In the Black Sea off the coast of Romania sank the Turkish cargo ship Royad Mammadov with grain. There was a fire earlier. Two crew members were killed, 11 rescued, HotNews reports, citing the Romanian Interior Ministry.
“Three wounded sailors were received by a MIA helicopter. Another eight crew members, who are in stable condition, have been taken to rescue vessels, the Romanian Maritime Administration (ANR) said.
The official cause of the fire is not known.
The ship Royad Mammadov, built in 2006, sailed under the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis. The ship was heading to the port of Ravenna (Italy), where it was to dock on October 12. The last time it entered the port of Izmail in Ukraine on September 18.
According to FocusPress, the fire occurred in the exclusive economic zone of Romania about 30 nautical miles south of Sfynto Georg.
In August, two commercial vessels were attacked in the Black Sea: the Volgo Balt 226 bulk carrier and the M/V RMS TEAM container ship.
In July, three people were injured in a fire on board an LNG vessel in the Black Sea. A few days earlier, the CPC confirmed an attack on the Nordic Zenith tanker in the Black Sea. Because of this, the ship was unable to start loading oil, and part of its crew was evacuated after a distress call.
