The vaccine against ragweed allergy, which is being developed by specialists of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA), is already “on the way”. This was stated by the head of FMBA Veronika Skvortsova at the plenary session of the forum “Bioprom”, her words lead TASS.
"A second vaccine is now on the way - against ragweed allergy," Skvortsova said.
The prototype of the drug, as previously reported, has already passed experimental tests, which confirmed its effectiveness and safety. The vaccine is created by the FMBA Institute of Immunology. The agency planned to start preclinical research in 2027.
Ambrosia allergy is a seasonal allergic reaction to pollen from the ragweed plant. It belongs to the group of pollinosis (allergy to pollen plants).
The agency's first allergy vaccine was Allergard against birch pollen, which is called the world's first. The drug belongs to a new generation of allergen-specific immunotherapy. Unlike the traditional method, it uses a recombinant genetically engineered antigen created from individual non-allergenic structural components of a natural allergen rather than a whole protein or natural allergenic extract.
In October 2026, it should go into wide circulation.
