Residents of San Francisco witnessed an unexpected fireworks display on Ocean Beach on the evening of October 3, where hundreds of pyrotechnics exploded.
The large-scale unauthorized pyrotechnic show began around 22:30 local time. Dozens of fireworks flashed in the night sky one by one, giving the impression of an endless stream of colorful explosions.
However, the spectacular show not only interfered with residents of nearby homes, but also violated the ban on the use of fireworks in San Francisco.
The city has banned all types of fireworks, including those deemed "safe and permitted" in some other areas of California.
In July, authorities tightened penalties for violating the ban. For the first case, a fine of up to $250 is provided. Repeated violations within five years can result in fines of up to $750, up to six months in prison, or both.
In July, a fire broke out on New York’s Brooklyn Bridge during the Independence Day festive fireworks. Then the New York Post, citing a source, reported that the platforms installed to launch fireworks, not the bridge itself, caught fire. All fires were eliminated in about a minute by two fire crews.
